| A Message from the President |

| Welcome to the Lee's Summit Reading Council,
the second largest chapter of the International Reading Association in the
state of Missouri. |
| |
| Our primary purpose is to actively promote a
higher level of literacy for each Lee's Summit student by sponsoring
author visits, book donations, writing conferences and other literacy
activities. |
| |
| We also provide
professional
development opportunities where members can learn and socialize with
friends and colleagues who are dedicated to the cause of literacy.
Members may serve on one of our many committees, attend workshops,
apply for scholarship funds and share a network of literacy resources. |
| |
| If you are not already a member, we
encourage you to get involved. Together we hope to raise literacy awareness
throughout our schools, our community and even the world. |
